Tap House Grill lines up a slew of brews as it marks its 10th year

Tap House Grill, with locations in Seattle and Bellevue, is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

It's a badge of honor — or maybe a cry for an intervention, as patrons quipped — to be inducted into The 160 Club at Tap House Grill. Membership requirement: You must have had all 160 beers on tap to get your name mounted at the bar.

With locations in downtown Seattle and Bellevue, Tap House Grill is as big as it gets. I doubt that any other bar has 40 IPAs on tap like this local chain does right now, including two of America's best IPAs: Dogfish Head 120 and Russian River Pliny the Elder, along with the stellar Double Wide IPA from Boulevard Brewing and Wookey Jack from Firestone Walker Brewing.

The special IPA lineup will be available through Sunday, the 10th anniversary of this local chain.

For the 50 members of The 160 Club, it's paradise. For the average Joe, it can be intimidating if you don't know your IPA from your pilsner.

Request a sample tray (about $10 for four six-ounce glasses). Make it dealer's choice and let the bartender surprise you. Or narrow your scope: a sample tray of IPAs or Northwest brews maybe.

There is a summer jewel to try, the Unibroue's Blanche de Chambly, with hints of banana, cloves and spices, as good a Belgian witbier as you can have on a summer day while checking out the man cave that is the Tap House Grill in downtown Seattle — souped up with comfy leather couches, pool tables and 12 flat screens.

Beers range from $4.50 to $13.50. Come Tuesday when some are priced at $3.

It's a safe bar-food menu, with your usual chicken wings and sliders. At its Seattle location, outside of the soggy popcorn shrimp, the bar food was fine without being noteworthy.

Tap House Grill, 1506 Sixth Ave. in downtown Seattle (206-816-3314), and 550 106th Ave. N.E. in Bellevue (425-467-1730), offers happy hour on weekdays from 3:30-6:30 p.m. and again 10 p.m.-closing Monday-Thursday, 11 p.m.-closing Friday and Saturday and 3:30 p.m.-closing Sunday; food specials $1.95-$5.95 (taphousegrill.com).
