Happy Hour |
Frontier Room doesn't seem to fit with its swankier martini brethren on the main drag in Belltown. Maybe that's why this barbecue joint seems so oddly appealing.
It possesses a bit of the old, grungy Belltown DNA. And by the nature of its cuisine, it doesn't draw the happy-hour crowd who worry that their halter tops or pressed shirts will get smeared in hot pepper-vinegar sauce.
May marks National BBQ Month, which seems like the perfect excuse to hit Frontier Room. This place offers one of the best happy-hour deals in the happy-hour mecca that is Belltown: St. Louis Ribs, Mac n' Cheese and beer and well drinks — all $3 deals. With outdoor seating, too.
The hot links, from Uli's Famous Sausage in Pike Place Market, were too dry. But don't pass on the juicy and meaty bacon-wrapped prawns, the best bar food here. Also not-to-be-missed: the $1 slider filled with either apple-wood-smoked pulled pork or beef brisket.
Frontier Room, 2203 First Ave., Seattle, offers happy hour 3-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays, when bar food (mostly barbecue) and drafts and well drinks cost $3 or less (206-956-RIBS [7427] or www.frontierroom.com).
