Seattle Reign FC’s inaugural season in the North American Women’s Soccer league came to an end with a result that is already all too familiar for the new team — a loss.

Christine Sinclair scored twice as playoff-bound Portland (11-6-5) defeated Seattle (5-14-3) for the fourth time this year, 2-1, and completed the season-series sweep at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila.

The loss was Seattle’s fourth in a row.

Megan Rapinoe gave the Reign a 1-0 lead in the third minute, but Sinclair equalized in the eighth minute.

Sinclair added another goal in the 83rd minute to secure the win for the Thorns, which had already locked up a spot in the four-team postseason.

Jess Fishlock almost tied it up for the Reign in second-half stoppage time, but her long-distance lob was punched over the bar by Portland goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc.
