Inslee raises $600,000 with help from state party
Jay Inslee, the Democratic candidate for governor, raised a little over $600,000 in cash and in-kind contributions in May, compared to $1.2 million for his Republican challenger, Attorney General Rob McKenna.
The state Democratic Party contributed $164,000 in cash and in-kind contributions to Inslee's campaign during that month. Overall, the party has contributed $735,000 in cash. Under state law, the state party can contribute a maximum of about $3.3 million to the campaign.
Inslee has raised a total of about $5.9 million and has about $3.2 million cash on hand, compared to $5.8 million for McKenna, who has roughly the same amount of cash on hand. However, Inslee will have the help Our Washington, a union-funded PAC opposing McKenna.
The group has reserved about $2.8 million worth of ad time statewide for the final month of the election, and, so far, has raised more than $900,000 -- more than any other PAC in the state so far, according to state records.
