Maps show support, opposition for tolling, liquor initiatives

Initiative 1125
Precinct results from November's election show residents on both sides of Lake Washington rejected Initiative 1125 by wide margins. The measure, which would have limited highway tolls, failed with 53 percent voting against it statewide. In King County about half of the precincts voted it down with 60 percent or more. This includes Seattle, Shoreline, Redmond, Bellevue, Mercer Island and Issaquah. The measure picked up scattered support in south King County and parts of Snohomish County. The strongest support came from outlying areas like Duvall, Covington and Monroe. (Click on the map to view a large PDF version.)Initiative 1183
The initiative to privatize liquor sales in Washington received strong support throughout the suburbs of King and Snohomish counties. The only neighborhoods to vote against I-1183 were core liberal areas such as Wallingford, Capitol Hill, Beacon Hill and Vashon Island. The measure received 59 percent of the statewide vote and forces the state out of the liquor business by June 1. (Click on the map to view a large PDF version.)
