Update: 4:40 p.m.: I have not been able to confirm swirling rumors that McGinn will soon announce a new theme song.

Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn is warning reporters to stop "crowding" him at news events and showing up at his house at night.

As reported by KOMO News, McGinn's spokesman Aaron Pickus sent a missive to several local TV stations Friday after some TV reporters apparently bugged hizzoner too much about the recent hiring of David Hiller, the controversial former lobbyist for the Cascade Bicycle Club.

"Sending a camera and reporter to knock on the door of the mayor’s home at 10 p.m. to talk about a personnel decision that is filling a vacant position within our existing budget is not necessary. Nor is crowding around him at an event as he arrives. We want to talk to you, that’s part of the job. That’s why I’m available at all hours (excluding when I’m going on a jog)," Pickus said in an email that was equal parts scolding and polite.

Pickus weirdly included photos (which look pulled randomly off the Internet) showing what McGinn's office believes is the proper distance for reporters to keep at public appearances.
