NEW YORK —

Warm-hearted volunteers are helping to distribute 1,500 coats to storm victims in Queens.

The New York Cares volunteers are serving as residents' "personal shoppers" during the three-hour event on Tuesday at the Far Rockaways Library.

The organization says it hopes to collect 50,000 coats by next week due to the "urgent need" from the disaster.

It also has a larger goal: collecting a record 200,000 coats this season for storm victims and others in need.
