JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. —

Former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is making another appearance on Missouri television screens in support of Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin.

Akin's campaign said the new ad will start Saturday. In it, Huckabee says: "In know a good man with a Christian heart, who's withstood a test of fire and emerged from the flame as strong as steel. His name is Todd Akin.".

Huckabee stood by Akin in August when other top Republicans urged him to drop his challenge of Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill because of a remark that women's bodies have ways of avoiding pregnancy in what Akin called "legitimate rape."

Huckabee's ads for Akin earlier this year were cited by some voters as the reason they supported Akin in a divided Republican primary.
