West Virginia governor asks Trump to consider buying The Greenbrier resort

West Virginia's governor has turned to Donald Trump in his quest to find a new owner for the world-famous Greenbrier resort.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. —

West Virginia's governor has turned to Donald Trump in his quest to find a new owner for the world-famous Greenbrier resort.

Gov. Joe Manchin says Trump is one of several potential buyers he's approached on behalf of The Greenbrier.

Trump returned Manchin's phone call late last week. The governor says they had a good talk about the four-star resort.

Florida-based CSX Corp. owns The Greenbrier but has signaled its desire to sell. The railroad operator has reported massive losses at the resort in recent years, including $35 million in 2008.

Manchin hopes prospects for a casino at The Greenbrier will sweeten any deal. Greenbrier County voters approved gambling there in November, and pending legislation would earmark proceeds for its employees' benefits.
