Bush Votes Absentee in Texas Primary

While President Bush hosts the prime minister of Denmark at his quiet Texas ranch, presidential hopefuls have been crisscrossing the state in a race to win votes in Tuesday's primary.

Bush said he voted absentee in the Texas primary, one of the biggest prizes of the presidential campaign.

"I'm not telling who," Bush said coyly on Saturday, then boldly plugged the GOP ticket.

Sen. John McCain has the Republican presidential race wrapped up, but Texas is a toss-up for the Democratic rivals.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., has been campaigning in San Antonio, Fort Worth and Waco _ about a half hour's drive from the ranch. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has announced he'll be in Texas on primary day. McCain will be arriving in Texas on Monday just as Bush is headed back to Washington.

During a press conference at the ranch with Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen, a member of the Danish press asked Bush what part of his foreign policy he hoped would continue after he leaves office.

"We'll let it sort out," Bush said, declining to answer.

Then he used the opportunity to predict a Republican victory in November.

"But I will tell you this: The issue in America is going to be, who will keep taxes low, and who will be tough in protecting America," Bush said. "And our candidate for president is going to win because he will have convinced the American people to this truth."
