Obliteride 2014

ERIKA SCHULTZ / THE SEATTLE TIMES

Michelle Shleifer, center, cheers before starting out on the second annual Obliteride bike ride at Magnuson Park Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014. Shleifer's father, who passed away in 1986, was cared for at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Shleifer said she journeyed in the 50-mile ride, "to support Fred Hutch so that no other little girl has to lose her dad to cancer". More than 900 people participated in the three-day event, which ended Sunday and donates all proceeds to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Multiple routes were offered for beginners to advanced cyclists. Friday's kick-off party at Gasworks featured performer Michael Franti and Spearhead and food from Tom Douglas.
