First, a full moon, and soon, spring

As others scurry by, University of Washington student Micia Vergara enjoys her lunch while studying under the cherry blossoms, near their peak, at the UW's Liberal Arts Quad on Monday afternoon. Vergara, from Sacramento, Calif., is a freshman at the university, majoring in public health. Students are taking winter-quarter finals, in advance of spring break next week. Spring will officially arrive in Seattle at 9:57 a.m. Thursday.

A nearly full moon is captured from Seattle's Capitol Hill as it sinks into the morning light over the Olympic Mountains on Monday. The moon was at its fullest at 10:09 a.m. Sunday.
