Irish Senator Katherine Zappone, grand marshal of this year's St. Patrick's Day Parade, begins laying down the Green Stripe that marks the parade route down 4th Avenue to Westlake Park. The laying o' the Green Stripe is a mini parade that sets the tone for the much larger St. Patrick's Day parade Saturday.

For 43 years William Patrick Kiley has played the role of St. Patrick in Seattle's St. Patrick's Day Parade. And Friday night he was on hand to help mark the parade route with the traditional green stripe down 4th Avenue.
