Hungry eagles by the hundreds

MARK HARRISON / THE SEATTLE TIMES

A bald eagle feeds on a salmon carcass on a Skagit River gravel bar. Hundreds of the majestic raptors have gathered along the upper reaches of the river in their annual pursuit of sustenance from the flesh of the spawned-out fish. The Skagit River Bald Eagle Interpretive Center at Howard Miller Steelhead Park in Rockport is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through the last week in January.
