Beyond the Buzz: Holly Smith of Cafe Juanita

This player was created in September 2012 to update the design of the embed player with chromeless buttons. It is used in all embedded video on The Seattle Times as well as outside sites.

Former restaurant critic Frank Bruni described returning to a familiar restaurant as, "Insisting on something steady in a world and a life with too many shocks, too much loss." Beyond the buzz over the hottest new spot serving the latest "it" food, some of Seattle's best chefs are defying the trendy in favor of the simply delicious, keeping customers with their consistency, creativity and individuality. The Seattle Times' food writer Nancy Leson will moderate a conversation with Lark's John Sundstrom, Hajime Sato of Mashiko, Holly Smith from Café Juanita, and Daisley Gordon of Café Campagne and Marché about how this talented group of chefs and restaurateurs keep it fresh without being faddy.

Presented by: The Seattle Public Library Foundation, author series sponsor Gary Kunis, and media sponsor The Seattle Times, and presented in partnership with The Seattle Times and The Elliott Bay Book Co. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Tickets: Library events and programs are free and open to the public. Tickets and reservations are not required. First come, first seated.

Doors open: 6:15 p.m.
