GREG GILBERT / THE SEATTLE TIMES

About 30-minutes before the show starts, Circus clown Dean Kelley, 32, entertains the audience up close with a short show. Dean went to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus for the first time when he was four. After watching the clowns, his mind was made up, he wanted to be a circus clown. In 2002, at the age of 21, the circus hired him.
