Hurricane Ridge view

KEN LAMBERT / THE SEATTLE TIMES

Chris Portier from Atlanta enjoys the breathtaking view from Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center. Portier said it was his first time at the center, and he was awed by the Olympics. He was among about a dozen visitors who drove the recently cleared road. The center is at an elevation of 5,242 feet at the top of Hurricane Ridge Road and about 17 miles from Port Angeles. It's open, weather permitting, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. At lower elevations, this week's forecast calls for clouds and showers.
