Fishing-pier fix

Pat Wolfrom, of Kent, a worker for the city of Des Moines and other crew members repair the fishing pier at the marina this week. "It's just a temporary fix until the seawall is repaired," said Wolfrom. As storms leach soil, sand and gravel from behind the seawall, the concrete on top collapses, which is what is being replaced. Repairs are to be completed in a few weeks.
