Adrian Lafferty, center, of Seattle, stands during a prayer with his daughter Summer-Sage Lafferty, 2, on his shoulders during the 'Idle No More' rally at Victor Steinbrueck Park Saturday. Several hundred turned out in support of the cause. "The main message is to support first nation treaty rights that are being impinged upon by government, and to protect mother nature and our sacred waters," said Millie Kennedy, a Seattle attorney that helped the Sacred Water Canoe Family group to organize the rally. The 'Idle No More' movement was started by four Canadian women in protest of Bill C-45, which is a land-use bill passed in Canada that among other things, lifts environmental protections on waterways, and was passed without tribal support.
