The walrus was shot by an Idaho hunter in 1972 with the assistance of Native hunters just before the Marine Mammal Act was passed, and donated last year to the Burke.

The walrus was shot in 1972 just before the Marine Mammal Act was passed by an Idaho hunter and donated last year to the Burke. The human skeleton is a plastic model.
