I have always loved setting up remote cameras at sporting events, particularly at soccer matches.

Making a usable photo from somewhere other than the sidelines is a big challenge, but one I gladly take on.

This is the second year I've been placing a remote camera behind the goal of the opponent at Sounders FC matches.

The challenges are many: The radio triggers used to fire the camera don't always work due to the inconsistent transmission/reception of the frequencies, and getting the peak action in the right area of the frame is a total gamble.

Yet, I keep trying. It takes many attempts to get the hang of shooting with remotes, and I'm slowly feel like I'm getting some traction.

This frame was from Friday night's Sounders FC-Real Salt Lake playoff game at CenturyLink Field. It's not the shot of a ball coming toward the net like I had wanted, but I think it's still a decent frame that provides readers with a different perspective of the game. I'll have to keep trying and am confident "the shot" will happen!

TECHNICAL NOTES: CANON EOS-1D MKIII, 16-35/2.8L lens (set at 16mm), 1/640 sec, f/3.5, ISO 3200, triggered with a PocketWizard MultiMAX Transceiver unit that was fired from the hot shoe of one of my cameras in my hand.
