A wine glass shatters into a million pieces as the proper level is reached in an exhibit at the Musuem of Glass in Tacoma Friday. As part of its 10th anniversary celebrations, the Museum hosted a "Shatter Session" in which live bands attempt to break a similar wine glass. In addition to the bands a second exhibit allowed guests to attempt to shatter the glass themselves - shown here - by adjusting a frequency until the glass vibrated and shattered. According to Jack Hodge who set the exhibit up for the museum, a hertz range of 480-520 would need to be achieved in order to accomplish the break, which he does here. It's much harder for a musician to do the same, Hodge says, due to the time required to sustain the right note.
