Mallets in hand at the Seattle Open croquet tournament

ALAN BERNER / THE SEATTLE TIMES

Mallets in hand, players compete in teams of two at the Puget Sound Croquet Club's facility in Kirkland, during the Seattle Open tournament Thursday. The club's motto is "this ain't grandma's grass" meaning the court is smooth, flat and fast. Sunday's play features singles competition beginning at 8:30 a.m. with finals at 1:00 p.m. It's free to watch, find more information at pugetsoundcroquet.com. For more photos, visit the gallery.
