Bad break for Sounders Zakuani

Colorado Rapids midfielder Brian Mullan upends Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Steve Zakuani in the first half on Friday night, April 22, 2011, in Commerce City, Colo. Mullan was given a red card for the dangerous slide tackle. A red card immediately ejects the offending player from the game and leaves the team shorthanded. Zakuani required a stretcher to leave the field. Seattle Times Sounders beat writer Joshua Mayers reports Zakuani suffered a fractured right fibula and tibia and will undergo surgery. He will probably be out for the remainder of the season. Sounders Fredy Montero went on to score the game's only goal in the 19th minute.
