A world apart: San Juan Chamula, Mexico

Brightly colored trim and floral designs on the front of the church reflect the different culture in San Juan Chamula. A woman leaving the church wears typical garb of highly teased wool tunics and skirts. A man at a table collects 20 pesos admission from out-of-town visitors who wish to enter. A sign in English says, "Warning, before visiting the church please ask for auturization of the Turist (sic) Office."
