Eliska Kubinova, a 23-year-old jockey from the Czech Republic, sits in the jockey's dressing room for the women riders at Emerald Downs with her new puppy. Eliska is a jockey at Emerald Downs in Auburn. She spent last year begging trainers to let her gallop and jog horses, and one year later she is among the leaders in the jockey standings at Emerald. She rode in five of the first six races Sunday.
