Oregon's Matthew Scherer leads the field out of the blocks in the men's 800 meters Saturday in the Prefontaine Classic. Scherer blasted to the lead as the pacesetter, but did not finish. The winner was Sudan's Abubaker Kaki in 1:43.71.
