Colonial encampment in Rochester

The old collides with the new as Tiffany Tjoelker, 10, abides by modern safety rules while waiting to board a canoe on the Black River Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the Northwest Colonial Reenactor's Association's 12th annual Colonial Encampment in Rochester, Wash. Thursday's group of about 30 came from all over western Washington in pre-1840s traditional wear to spend the week living as colonial Americans would. While there, attendees take part in activities like canoe rides, arrowhead making, musket shooting, surveying courses, teatime and an annual end-of-the-week potluck. The encampment continues until Saturday evening.
