Children ages five to seven practice singing at the Qunu Junior Secondary School April 2, 2013 in Qunu, South Africa. Former South African President Nelson Mandela lived in Qunu from age two to nine and it was here that he began school at a Methodist missionary school just steps away from the current school building. In his autobiography Mandela recalled that he was the first in his family to attend school and that his teacher assigned him the English name Nelson there. Mandela was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia last week, although officials say his condition is improving.
