Revelers stand amid a bounty of balloons at a local competition to elect the three main Carnival characters, Chuta, Pepino and Chola, in La Paz, Bolivia, Friday, Jan. 25, 2013. Bolivians compete annually in their various communities to be chosen as of the three main beloved characters that represent gaiety. The trio of Carnival royalty must be adept at spreading happiness and never tire of dancing. The 3 personalities assist in all official Carnival events.
