Photos of the Day: Nov. 9, 2012

In this Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, photo, Sumbal, 32, a transgender Pakistani, rests in her apartment after returning from a wedding party of a customer, in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Transgender people live in a tenuous position in conservative Pakistan, where the roles of the sexes are traditionally starkly drawn. Families often push them out of the home when they're young, forcing many to prostitute themselves to earn a living. One role where they are tolerated is as dancers at weddings and other celebrations at which men and women are strictly segregated.
