A Peruvian Ministry of Agriculture official told AFP the death of pelicans and other sea birds reached 4,000, accounted mainly on the beaches of northern Peru, as the government seeks to establish the causes of this deadly phenomena, which manifested itself in earlier weeks with the deaths of more than 800 dolphins and thousands of fish and diverse sea life that washed ashore.
