Looking down Pierce Lane in the University of Washington Quad provides a striking view of the 30 Yoshino cherry trees that are in their two weeks of peak beauty. Monday's weather made the Quad a great place to study--or socialize. Temperatures in the Seattle area reached 68degrees, well above the average 57 degrees for April 9 but below the record high of 73 set in 1959. The weather is expected to cool Tuesday with a high of about 64, according to the National Weather Service. There's a chance of showers Tuesday night and Wednesday. But another nice weekend is in the forecast, said Doug McDonnal at NOAA Sand Point.
