Courtney Blethen was born and raised in Seattle, Wash. She studied Sociology at the University of Washington and graduated in 2004. From there she went to Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, Calif., and studied photojournalism for two years. She has been working at The Seattle Times since August of 2007.
