Native children take turns swinging from a defunct street light near the main street in Provideniya where the loss of more than half its population, down to 2,000, has left half the buildings abandoned and in disrepair. Native families move to the city from villages in search of work but there is little for them to do. This youngster swings on the wiring from a broken light standard.
