Four hundred ninety feet above Second Avenue, Stan Christianson, dressed as Yosemite Sam, goes over the edge to rappel to the street during the Washington Special Olympics fund-raiser Saturday. Up to 100 people who've raised at least $1,000 get the opportunity from the 43-story building at 1000 Second Avenue. Special Olympics hopes to raise $150,000 with 20 slots remaining Sunday. Participants will have until Sept. 15 to raise the money. Christianson, from Skagit Valley, secured parts of his costume to prevent losing his hat, beard and other accouterments. Rachel Bassett, background, goes over at the same time.
