Octopus Blind Date at Seattle Aquarium

Before the octopus blind date could take place on Valentine's Day at the Seattle Aquarium Friday, biologist Kathryn Kegel had to get Ace, the male giant Pacific octopus, out of the way so she and another biologist could remove the barrier between the two tanks. Using the suckers on his arms, there are eight as in "octo," Ace could smell Yoyo in the next tank. Ace quickly moved into the large tank and the two seemed to hit it off joining their sixteen arms together. Both Ace and Yoyo weigh about 45-pounds each and are believed to be 2 1/2 to 3 years-old. On Saturday and Feb. 23rd octopuses will be released back into Puget Sound. For more information see: seattleaquarium.org
