Restoring a 1949 Washington State Patrol car

Seattle Metropolitan Police Museum (SMPM) is restoring this 1949 Washington State Patrol car in Ellensburg. It's a Ford sedan that was recently acquired, and the work will take about a year. The car is part of the first model police package vehicle manufactured in the U.S., and before these cars existed, in 1949, police used civilian cars. Seen here, Seattle Police officer Jim Ritter, of the SMPM -- which owns the car -- holds an original era side-door decal which will be used in the restoration.
