Long Beach California, currently where Boeing is building the C-17, is a potential site to build the new 777x. The C-17 program will end in 2015 when 3,000 people will lose their jobs unless Boeing decides to build all or part of the new 777x in California. A C-17 is seen in the lower left corner of the photo. Runway access to the Long Beach International airport is shown just to the left of the existing C-17 factory. Runway access is a critical part of Boeing's site selection criteria. Downtown Long Beach California and the Pacific Ocean beyond it loom in the distance.
