Slapshots regularly approach 100 mph and Bobby Hull, in the NHL hall of fame, is credited with a slapshot of 119 mph. Nicknamed "the Golden Jet," he became the first NHL player to score more than 50 goals in a season in 1966. The record with modern technology at the NHL All-Star game is held by defenseman Zdeno Chara of the Boston Bruins, who blasted a 108.8 mph slapshot in 2012.
