Artisans from Zigong, China are constructing local icons and lanterns from metal and fabric to be its own exhibit at the Washington State Fair in Puyallup from Sept. 6 through the 22nd called Luminasia. Though worker You Xiaobo is atop what will become a 60-foot tall replica of the Space Needle, it's an ancient craft transformed and updated. The workers have been here since early August assembling the structures including a Washington State ferry, an orca, daffodils and totem poles. Mount Rainier and other structures that will be illuminated. A separate admission will be required and this exhibit will continue beyond the fair's closing date.
