Installation of dragon for new exhibit at the EMP

Michael Moore, Seattle Opera's scenic studios manager, is deep into his work as he checks out the interior of the dragon build by Seattle Opera for Fantasy: Worlds of Myth and Magic opening April 27 at the Experience Music Project. Moore said it took 800 hours of teamwork to make the dragon for its lair in the EMP. The head is about six feet long and the entire piece (claw, tail, wing, head) weighs 240 pounds. The exhibit examines fantasy in literature, video games, film and television. The EMP will have a naming contest for the dragon, sex unknown, though there are eggs in its lair. It's the main attraction in the new exhibit. The animatronic dragon will move and make appropriate sounds.
