At Milepost 31 in Pioneer Square, a ten-foot model of the tunnel boring machine "Bertha" is on display. Olya Pickering, Seattle, takes a look. At lower left is a scale model of a car to give scale to the machine. The machine, all 41 pieces of it, arrived earlier Tuesday on a ship from Japan. The machine, when assembled, will be 326 feet long. The tunnel will be 57.5 ft wide, the largest in the world. If all goes according to plan, cars will be driving through the tunnel by the end of 2015.
