Maintaining Washington's State Parks

A historical photo of Leta May Olmstead left, and Clareta, right Olmstead as children with their parents, George W. Smith, and Clara May Olmstead, at Olmstead Place State Park. Clara was the only daughter of Samuel Bedient Olmstead, who homesteaded the land in 1875 with his wife Sarah Yale Olmstead and their three children. Samuel and Sarah came from Seattle to Kittitas County after a long journey from Hartford, Connecticut, where he descended from a family the city's founding Puritans and she from the Yale family.
