Evelyn Zeller reaches for the music, traditional alphorn songs she and husband Nels Magelssen played outside Café Suisse during the noon hour Thursday, marking the first anniversary of the business at 2008 Westlake Avenue. The horns lack keys or valves so the notes are arrived at by changes in breath, and with the lips. Hers is of a traditional wood horn and his a telescoping, lightweight carbon fiber piece. The alphorns are about 12-feet long or about "the length of two Swiss men, said Zeller.
