Alphorns mark 1st anniversary of Café Suisse

Husband and wife alphorn players Nels Magelssen and Evelyn Zeller get their instruments ready outside Café Suisse during the noon hour Thursday, marking the first anniversary of the business at 2008 Westlake Avenue. Zeller's is traditional woods and Magelssen's is a telescoping, lightweight carbon fiber piece. The alphorns are about 12-feet long or about "the length of two Swiss men, said Zeller. As he telescopes the instrument to full length, he has the mouthpiece or mundstueck between his lips. For more information see www.alphorn.ca
