Denis Hayes, president of the Bullitt Foundation and Earth Day-founder, says their building is open, airy and all the woods in it, like this stairwell, are sustainable. These are fir. The building is meant to function like a giant Douglas fir. The ultra-green Bullitt Center is at 1501 E. Madison St.
