The City of Seattle's oldest fireboat, the 86-year-old Alki, will be auctioned off March 4, to the highest bidder. The steel-hulled boat was built in 1927 for the Seattle Fire Department. It's 123.5 feet long and 27 feet wide. It's powered with two WWII surplus General Motors 500HP diesel engines that were installed in 1947. Additionally, there are 14 Detroit Diesel engines that power the water pumps and run two generators. It can pump more than 16,000 gallons per minute.
