As Seattle Aquarium diver Chris Van Damme enters the octopus tank to weigh Rain, the resident male, he tells visitors what's about to happen using a microphone in his mask. Above him, Joel Hollander sits on the rocks ready to assist. The male weighed 71-pounds. Thursday, Rain and the resident female, Squirt mated. Soon, both will be released into Puget Sound to complete their life cycled. Octopus Week events continue through Feb. 24. See seattleaquarium.org for more information.
