The Yick Fung Company store opened in 1910 and was fully functional until in 2008, when the Mar family that owned it closed the store and helped move it into a nearby space adjoining the Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience. The Mar Family donated the contents of the store and helped recreate it exactly as it was. The preserved store is a part of the museum now, accessible by tour, but sometimes neighbors who remember the original store stop in to try and purchase something.
